part of what has kept me busy and not posting is my stash reduction, which i attacked with a vengence the last few weeks in order to get my sewing room back under control. have a seat, you're going to feel faint:
i donated 185 yards--that number is correct, one hundred eighty-five yards--to a local charity who's focus is job skills for the handicapped and disabled. they will use some of it to teach people to sew--they will sell the rest to fund other projects. it was hard putting all that fabric in the bags and putting them into the car, but when i realized that i couldn't remember ONE SINGLE PIECE OF FABRIC that was in the bag, i felt like a burden of guilt had been lifted from my home. i have no idea how much i actually spent to acquire all that fabric, but it mocked me every time i went into that room, and now i can truly feel that it is serving a purpose and not just languishing on a shelf.
i'm taking one point per yard for the fabric itself, but i'm rounding up for having the strength to actually do it, so for this one i'm giving myself 200 points.
i also gave 25 yards of fabrics to my dear mama, i would have given it to her regardless but i'm going to take points for it because it is my contest and i can do whatever i want. so that's 25 more points.
a total of 210 yards of fabric OUT. and you guys thought i was exaggerating about the condition of my stash.
