this fabric makes me very happy, and a lot sentimental: i bought it over 15 years ago, when i went to visit my sister in maryland after her first child was born.
there is also a ball of clean, white string, to be used in the safe childbirth kits that these bags will hold. the ball is about 65 yards long—i am always surprised at the size of ball a given amount of yarn will make.
for the SRC: the bags took a little over three yards of fabric, so i’ll give myself 45 points (a point per yard, per year it has aged), and for the yarn i’ll take 5 points. 50 points total for this project. i could have gotten more if i’d had ribbon for drawstrings.
also, for anybody keeping score or needing a report: there are a dozen bags, and they took about 2 hours total to make, from cutting to pressing. that averages to 10 minutes each. i'm thinking these will go on the list for christmas gift bags--that's some prime stash reduction opportunity right there!
*next up--some blankets for the same project. what are you working on?
