one of my favorite kitchen appliances is my kitchenaid stand mixer, which i got on craigslist practically new. i use this thing almost every day, especially now that i'm making so many foods by scratch.
to make things more efficient, i like to keep a set of measuring tools and all the mixing accessories in the bowl.
however, dust and random bits of flour or grease get into the bowl, and it was driving me crazy. so i made a cover for it.
this is just like a shower cap: cut a circle, finish the edge, apply elastic.
i laminated the wrong side of the fabric with some of the iron-on stuff, because i had it, and i'm trying to use up my stash. to apply the elastic i used the 3-step zig-zag, because that is what i was in the mood for when i was doing it, but a regular zig-zag works just fine. or you can apply a casing. you could even embellish like a girlie-girl cap if you like. in fact, i still might do that.
sure, i could have made a cover for the whole mixer, but then i wouldn't be able to admire how grown up my fancy kitchen appliance looks.
SRC: one fat quarter that has been in my stash since we lived downtown--over 10 years ago--and about as much laminate that has been in my stash since i made a changing pad for ella--almost 8 years ago! where did that time go? i'll take 10 points for fabric and 8 points for laminate, and i’ll round it up to make the math easier. 20 points total.
*this bowl cover makes me so happy that i'm going to make a few more to use for actual food storage. i might even fancy them up like the girlie-girl shower caps. i'm not sure the laminate is food-safe, so what should i use instead?
